Everybody's Talkin': Isn’t that Jesus?

Let’s just say the pumpkin that Paoli’s Mike Parks carved for this Halloween season was a bit out of the ordinary. When Mike added light to the pumpkin, he saw just what he was trying to accomplish — an image of the face of Jesus.

Mike’s wife, Ginger Parks, sent a photo of the pumpkin to her cousin, Amanda Vernon, who lives south of Paoli. Amanda was skeptical about Mike’s purported work, but she later saw it for herself when it was displayed at Paoli’s Central Baptist Church during a Trunk-or-Treat event. When Amanda received the photograph of the Jesus pumpkin, she forwarded it to me and to her husband, Sam Vernon. Sam, in turn, teased that he wasn’t so sure he saw the widely perceived image of Jesus in the photo. He wrote a note to Ginger telling her it was the “most amazing carving of Barry Gibb I have ever seen.”
