China condemns US views on religion

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman has accused the United States of trying to meddle in developing countries under the pretext of religion.

This statement was made following a USCIRF report condemning the state of religious freedom in China.

The US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) is a US government agency to monitor the status of freedom of religion in the world, and to give independent policy recommendations to the US President, the Secretary of State and the Congress.
