Nativity scene lawsuit labeled baseless by Green Bay's defense attorney

An atheist organization is being accused of filing a baseless lawsuit against officials in Green Bay, Wisconsin, over the public display of a nativity scene.

The lawsuit was filed by the Freedom From Religion Foundation, which was upset that a nativity scene was included in a display on the front lawn of city hall. That display also included a Christmas tree, reindeer, and Santa Claus. Last month, the Freedom From Religion Foundation threatened to file the lawsuit unless the nativity scene was removed from the display.

Steve Crampton is with Liberty Counsel, an Orlando-based civil liberties firm that is defending the city of Green Bay. According to Crampton, the law is clear regarding such displays.
