Dangers increase for Christians in Iraq
Christians continue to flee Iraq as the fourth anniversary of the fall of Baghdad is observed. At the same time, says a spokesman with The Voice of the Martyrs (Canada), the ministry is supporting Christians who are remaining in war-torn Iraq.
While U.S. led forces toppled the government of ruthless dictator Saddam Hussein four years ago, Christians in Iraq now enjoy greater freedom when it comes to evangelism; but they also face greater dangers from a recent rise in Islamic-led terrorism, says Glenn Penner with The Voice of the Martyrs (Canada). During a recent interview with Mission Network News, Penner said many of the Christians who flee Iraq become stuck in neighboring countries.
