Tragedy At Virginia Tech

NOTE: Here are a few stories relating to the tragic murder of 32 at Virginia Tech University. Please remember all of these families, faculty and others involved. Also, don't forget to pray for those that will be ministering to the families and friends, and for the first-responders that were on the scene.

Christians Send Aid, Prayers to Heal Va. Tech Campus

Christians from all around the United States have begun preparations to aid those students and people involved in the Virginia Tech shooting massacre which claimed 33 lives yesterday.

Religious organizations, campus ministries, churches, and other Christian programs have already sent workers and chaplains to counsel with affected persons as well as emphasize the importance of prayer to bring healing to the college grounds.

"My heart is heavy with the tragic news of the deadliest school shooting incident in American history and our prayers are with the dozens of victims and their families during this horrible time,” said Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), in a statement. “The BGEA has offered the resources of our Rapid Response Team, which sends chaplains trained in crisis counseling, to assist the Blacksburg community in the days ahead as we have done in many situations since 9/11 in New York City.”

Was God at Virginia Tech?

When tragedies happen like the shooting at Virginia Tech University yesterday, many people often ask, "Where was God? Why did He allow this to happen?"

And ironically, He allowed this tragedy because of His love for us. That doesn't make sense, does it? Allow me to explain.

Christians Pray after College Shooting

The clergyman who ministered to families of last October’s tragic Amish school shooting in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, has called on pastors and other church leaders in the US to hold prayer meetings this week for the victims of Monday’s mass shooting as other Christians and church leaders added their prayers of support.

In wake of tragedy, VA Tech students find solace in God


As students on the Virginia Tech campus attempt to make sense of the pain they are feeling from yesterday's horrific shooting rampage, Christian ministries are extending hope and comfort to them.

A few short hours after the shootings, more than 300 students on the Blacksburg campus took part in a prayer and worship gathering organized by the Baptist Collegiate Ministries at Virginia Tech. BCM director Darrell Cook says his ministry is helping students "focus on the goodness and grace of God" in the midst of an unspeakable tragedy.

Hero Israeli teacher killed saving lives in VA Tech shootings

JERUSALEM - The e-mails arrived soon after Marlena Librescu learned her husband had been shot to death - from students telling how he barricaded the doorway of his Virginia Tech classroom and saved their lives.

"My father blocked the doorway with his body and asked the students to flee," Librescu's son, Joe Librescu, said Tuesday in a telephone interview from his home outside of Tel Aviv. "Students started opening windows and jumping out."
