Federal Appeals Court hears Texas Bible monument case

A U.S. federal appeals court is reexamining a case involving a Texas county's public display of a Bible on government property. An attorney the pro-family law firm Liberty Legal Institute says constitutional law favors the display of God's Word.

For 50 years, a monument containing a Bible has been outside the Harris County Courthouse in Houston. Last fall, however, a three-judge panel of the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the monument unconstitutional, claiming it was a government establishment of religion. This week, the entire Fifth Circuit appeals court heard arguments in the case.
