Fiesta Bowl Was A Classic

I don't claim to be a sports analyst or expert, but I am a fan of football. I especially love the excitement and pageantry of college football. On Monday night I watched the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on Fox Sports.

This had to be one of the, if not "the", most exciting college football games I have ever watched. It was one of those storybook tales and the final few minutes of the game kept you on the edge of your chair (if not standing) with your heart racing.

In the end, around 1am, the Boise State Broncos defeated the Sooners of Oklahoma 43-42 in overtime. The video below shows a series of clips from the last two minutes of the game.

To add even more drama to the already dramatic finish, Boise State star RB Ian Johnson, on live national television, shocked the nation and his girlfriend when he proposed. That video clip is below.

I would also like to commend the Fox announcers for the game,
Thom Brennaman, Charles Davis and Barry Alvarez. They were outstanding and reflected the excitement that was on the field.

Many years ago, in the late 1970's, early 1980's, I attempted the "color commentary" for Baker County High School Wildcats football on WBKF-FM in Macclenny, Florida (now WJXR-FM). Can you believe that? The late John Blakely, known as the "voice of the cats", did a great job with the play-by-play and putting up with me too. But, I digress... let me just add that announcing games is not as easy as one may think.
